One more cycle down
And here we find ourselves, at the end of all things…
…for this year, at least.
One more year down, and for a lot of us, I think it was a hard one. From politics to catastrophic weather, from health issues to simple ill luck, most people I know have had a rough time of it. I know we have. My wife’s health, my own depression, financial issues and the simple tough calls of raising a child today… while I know a lot of people have much worse burdens to bear, I for one am not sorry to put this year in the rearview mirror.
On the other hand, it’s not all bad. It’s not like there haven’t been triumphs, too. Shei’s health is holding steady. We re-launched Ashes and added a new book to the series, as well as releasing an accompanying short story series. We even launched a new novella series (which you can find here if you haven’t seen it yet).
And I think that’s what’s important for a lot of us to remember. That no matter what the last year/years have thrown at us, we’re still here. We still have things/people/ourselves to be grateful for and proud of. That even if things look bad, even if they look the worst they ever have, we can still go forward, move upward. If things are at their worst, they can only get better. Right?
That’s what I keep telling myself, anyway. Sometimes it helps.
From here, we enter a new year. There are a lot of new choices and opportunities ahead of us. It’s up to us to seize them, and make whatever year we have coming better than the one passing us by now (even if it was a good one).
So to all of you out there…
Happy holidays from us here at Darksbane Books. I hope you have a good time, whatever your end-of-year beliefs may be, and I hope that the turning of the year brings with it the seeds of whatever it is you seek. :]
Take care of yourselves,
